Joining Curiosity Quills for another edition of our Author Spotlight: Question & Answer Coloumn, is Jordan Elizabeth, author of recently released steampunk historical-fantasy, WICKED TREASURE, which hit Amazon on April, 11, 2017!
In the comments, please join us in asking Jordan Elizabeth anything you’d like to know about writing, her new book, and life in Central New York . Or you know, just throw something completely random at her to keep her on her toes!
Who are you and where do you call home right now?
My name is Jordan Elizabeth Mierek, but I use the pen name Jordan Elizabeth. I live in Central New York with my husband and baby.
Tell us about your latest book: your inspiration for it, how you got through your most difficult challenge in writing it, and what you love about it?
Answer: Clark and Amethyst Treasure refused to let me go after I completed book 2. I knew I wanted to write more about their adventures. I’m not really sure about the difficult challenge. I had a lot of time on my hands, and completed the novel in just a few months. I guess the most challenging part was the editing process, as that took far longer than the actual writing! The part I love the best is how outrageous Amethyst continues to act. She is by far my favorite character to write about.
What are a few of your hobbies?
I love to write, of course. I also love painting, making jewelry, and going for walks for inspiration.
If you had your own food truck, what would it serve?
Tofu! I love tofu, and there are few restaurants in this area that serve tofu.
What do you want to get better at doing, writing-wise?
Writing more sequels. People ask me for sequels to ESCAPE FROM WITCHWOOD HOLLOW and COGLING all the time. So far I have been working on other projects, but hopefully I complete them in the future.
What TV series are you into right now and why?
I love Forensic Files. I find it amazing how much scientists and detectives can discover.
What movie do you quote the most?
Mean Girls. I really don’t watch movies. I only quote that because I had a friend in high school who quoted it all the time.
What do you collect, even a little bit? Tell us about your favorite one.
Do books count? Haha. I also collect fairy figurines. My favorite is ceramic, a gift from my husband. I keep it on the windowsill in my office at work.
What’s your preferred genre of book when you just want to escape?
I love epic fantasy. The longer the better. It is such an escape to become lost in a new world.
What do you like to do on vacation?
I love to go to historic sites. Forts are my passion. My parents are obsessed with history, and they passed that obsession on to me at a young age.
Is there another genre you’ve been itching to write in?
I want to someday write a plain contemporary novel. I’ve tried in the past, but fantasy slipped in.
What unusual object do you like to bring with you if you leave the house?
I like to bring dollar coins in case I need a soda from a machine.
If you had a champion racing pigeon, what would you name it and what would its tagline be?
Pigeon-Pooh. The oddest pigeon ever known.
Finally, give us one recommendation for something - movie, TV, game, food - that you enjoyed recently.
I love mushrooms. I just tried a new recipes where you stuff mushrooms with ricotta, garlic, and spinach, then top it with shredded cheese and sauce. It was so delicious.
About Wicked Treasure
An asylum patient has a cryptic vision: Clark will overthrow the presidency. She’s just insane…right?
When a clockwork lion kidnaps their daughter, Clark and Amethyst’s calm new life shatters. Hunting down the beast leads the Grishams and Treasures to a conspiracy not just against Clark, but also against the country.
The conspirators attacked their little girl. An offense like that can’t go ignored. With his old gang at his back, Clark is ready to take on an abandoned circus, dethroned royalty, a corrupt orphanage, and the presidency itself.
WICKED TREASURE is the third installment of the Treasure Chronicles.
