Who knew that after the grueling months-long competition for two winning entries, we’d end up with THREE?
From the start, the NaNo-Virtuosos competition impressed us with the amount of enthusiasm, perseverance, and pure moxie exhibited by the competitors.
Going from twenty-nine to ten to five, and now, to three – we couldn’t help but feel the pangs of loss at missing out on some favorites. But I can tell you now, my friends, that we are extremely happy with the entries, and look forward to a long and prosperous future with this amazing trio (whom, incidentally, we’ve invited to tonight’s #CQ Tweetup at 9:00pm Eastern US time):
(After the Woods)
Courtney “Court” Young is a hometown girl from Southeast Texas who loves to read and write paranormal fiction for young adults. Musical theatre gives her the warm fuzzies along with ghost stories, urban legends, and anything composed by John Williams. She views her life as if it were a sitcom and secretly geeks out at the mention of George Lucas, Anne Rice, or JK Rowling. Courtney is a night owl with a day job and a self-proclaimed coffee aficionado. She holds a BS in Finance and Economics.
A longtime resident of Arizona, Trudy Dillard has also lived Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Her educational background is in southwestern ornamental horticulture. She enjoys travel, beadwork, and attending cultural events. On any given day, Trudy can be found skulking about with various family members and friends. Her passions are education and family. She is a widow and has four children. Cell Hell is her first novel.
Thea Isis Gregory
Thea Isis Gregory originally hails from rural English Quebec and grew up with a keen appreciation of science and nature. These interests have followed her throughout life—the farm was lonely, and thus engendered a fanatical love of reading and books. She went on to study physics at university, and worked odd jobs until the writing bug bit. Now, she writes science fiction and horror in the comfort of her Montreal home.
The million dollar question, of course, is – “how did they do?” (followed by “who ate all the cheese?!”) Let’s just say it was a genuine photo-finish! Seriously, if I wasn’t so thrilled for all three entries, I’d demand a recount.
So What Happens Next?
All three winners will be receiving a $150 Amazon Gift Certificate and a publishing offer from Curiosity Quills Press (though all other entries who have not won are always welcome to send their own queries).
As mentioned in the beginning, we are having a #CQ Tweetup at 9:00pm Eastern US time to hang out with the winners and talk reading, writing, and publishing (not to mention our recent downtime).
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
