Writing an entire novel in one month? Very hard.

Writing an entire awesome novel in one month? Only NaNo-Virtuosos are up to that challenge.

The Curiosity Quills Press team invites all aspiring authors who complete a novel during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) to enter their finished works in the NaNo-Virtuosos Competition on or before December 10, 2012. Follow in the footsteps of other successful authors who were published by Curiosity Quills from the same competition in 2011, such as: Courtney Worth Young, Trudy Dillard, and Thea Gregory.

Writing competitions crop up weekly across the Internet, but not many offer an exclusive publishing deal as a grand prize! NaNo-Virtuosos will run into early February of 2013, and after three rounds of voting, judging and revisions, the final prize will be an exclusive publishing deal through Curiosity Quills Press. Secondary prizes include free books, professional editing, and cover art.

This year’s NaNo-Virtuosos Competition will be a little different – we’re bringing in the big guns in the form of a specialist panel of judges, helping the competition move smoothly and providing helpful commentary throughout. Our glorious panelists are not CQ staff, but rather successful industry professionals and authors who have valuable insight to offer both our prospective authors and our readers.

This year we’re also introducing something we’re calling the “Synergy Prize” – a reward for our readers who are actively participating in helping their favorite authors make it through the competition. This year’s Synergy Prize is the Google Nexus 7 32gb HSPA+ Tablet.

Curiosity Quills Press Director, Verity Linden, shares some words of encouragement with her fellow writers:

“NaNoWriMo is a brilliant project for finally getting that book out of your head and onto the paper – but that’s not the end of the journey. Writing is rewriting, and NaNo-Virtuoso is all about making your masterpiece-in-waiting into the best it can be. You put blood, sweat and tear into that manuscript, and now feedback from peers and professionals can drive you to make it as good as you know it can be, and maybe even get you published!”

Here are some important dates and competition prizes to keep in mind for the NaNo-Virtuosos Competition:

Round One:

  • Submissions close on December 10, 2012
  • Voting closes on December 28, 2012
  • Prizes: If you pick the winner(s) correctly – you’ll win a CQ book of your choice. Pick five winners correctly, and you’ll be automatically placed into the Synergy Prize Draw.

 

Round Two:

  • Deadline for edits on January 03, 2013
  • Round one long-list reduced to a short-list by a judging panel of industry experts and successful indie authors. Results announced January 18th, 2013.

 

Round Three:

  • Deadline for final edits on January 24, 2013
  • Voting closes on February 08, 2013
  • Prizes: Pick the winner correctly and automatically go into the Synergy Prize draw. All CQ titles will be priced at $0.99 during this round.

 

The NaNoWriMo project inspires hundreds of thousands of novels, and among them are true gems. Curiosity Quills wants the reading community to take hold of the reigns of publication and tell us what you really want.
