Man oh man, am I nervous. We’re both nervous, Curiosity and I.
Having just posted a 4,068-word beast of a first chapter for review, we’re both preparing for the worst. But then again, it’s not like we haven’t been here before.
Gatecrashers is something we’ve been working on for nearly a year, having transformed it from an imagined conversation between a boy and a giant gorilla on a creepy rain-soaked playground to an idea that just kept snowballing into something else entirely. Very quantum, really.
It’s all taken on a few very different forms in our multiple revisions, with the last one being especially sad to take out to pasture, but this is it, we promise. We promise to ourselves, mostly – simply because we’re starting to realize that if we keep doing revisions, we’ll never get done. We’ve already scrapped pretty much everything in that original idea, including a gender swap and then some, but I think we’re finally happy where things stand.
So, now that chapter 1 is posted… I’m realizing just how much of a change of gears we’ve been through these past months. The camera is collecting dust, but the (figurative) pen is being worn down to the hilt.
Where will this lead our little project? Hopefully into the hands of happy readers.
